Music Composition
Why study music composition at Geneseo?
This minor introduces students to the necessary skills for writing music, ranging from a variety of approaches to harmony—classical to contemporary—to the foundations of music technology, techniques of orchestration, and more. Coursework consists of a combination of private lessons, seminars, and lectures as students explore and develop their own compositional style. Over the course of the minor, students compose a portfolio of original works leading to a senior capstone.
