On April 22, 2022, the day after GREAT Day, 12 faculty in the Biology Department opened their labs and invited students to discover what research looks like behind their doors. The Biology Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee organized the Biology Lab Crawl event to promote research in the department and to encourage a wide diversity of students to learn more about the department and how to get involved. Participating labs had faculty and current research students showing off lab equipment and tools, talking about their research, and inviting interested students to apply for open research positions. More than 40 biology students participated by visiting labs and earning stamps on a bingo card for each lab visited. The inaugural Lab Crawl event was successful in sharing the broad range of research in the department with a new group of students who will have a chance to get involved!
