School of Business Organizes 5th Marketing Student-Practitioner Conference

5th Annual Marketing Student-Practitioner Conference, October 18, 2024

Under the leadership of Dr. Ian Alam, Distinguished Teaching Professor, the School of Business hosted the 5th Annual Marketing Student-Practitioner Conference on Friday, October 18, 2024.

Themed "Marketing in the Age of Digital Transformation", the conference featured 13 marketing professionals and practitioners, including several SUNY Geneseo alumni from diverse industries, who shared their personal journeys and professional experiences with students. In an era where technology continues to reshape the world, businesses face the ongoing challenge of how to effectively connect with their customers. The conference explored real-world strategies for business success in this digital age.

Approximately 110 students participated in this engaging event, representing all six business-related majors, as well as psychology, sociology, communication, international relations and mathematics. Under the guidance of Dr. Alam, the conference offered students an invaluable opportunity to deepen their understanding of marketing discipline, explore career paths in this dynamic field, learn effective job search strategies, and develop essential soft skills needed to succeed in the real business world. Most importantly, it served as a source of inspiration for the students to choose marketing as their career.
