Solid State Physics and Materials Science Research at SUNY Geneseo
At SUNY Geneseo, Dr. James McLean and his students carry out a variety of projects in the fields of materials science and solid state physics. McLean has been active in a project to study the effectiveness of bulletproof armor. These studies involve detailed numerical simulations of the impact between a bullet and the armor (see graphic above). McLean also uses an atomic force microscope and near-field scanning optical microscope to carry out a variety of projects in solid state physics.
More details about Dr. McLean's research can be found on Dr. James McLean's Research Web Page.
