Hanna Brant, assistant professor of political science and international relations, provided expert commentary for an article recently published in City & State - New York. The article, titled "In NY-24, an ugly rematch between Claudia Tenney and Mario Fratto," analyzes the race between Tenney, the incumbent representative, who is trying to fend off Fratto, a further right businessman, in the Republican primary on June 25, 2024. In the article, Professor Brant notes that “[a]s a challenger, Fratto has to focus on Tenney and her record because he doesn't have prior elected experience.” Whoever wins the primary is almost certain to beat Democrat David Wagenhauser in this overwhelmingly red district come November.
Professor Brant studies American politics, and has published widely on Congressional politics and representation. Her article titled "Polarization and the Ties the Bind: Congressional Staff Turnover" is forthcoming in the journal Congress & the Presidency.
