Dave Parfitt was appointed as Associate Provost for Academic Success on July 4, 2024, after a national search was conducted. Dave served as interim since May 2022.
Dave came to Geneseo as an adjunct lecturer in January 2008, having previously served as Assistant Professor of Biology at Middlebury College and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He was appointed as Director of the Teaching and Learning Center in September 2008. As Director of the TLC, Dave centered our faculty development work on supporting student success, particularly by building out programming focused on growth mindset, student mental health and wellbeing, and integrative and applied learning. His work at the college reflects a commitment to equity and belonging, which is reflected in the direct work that he has done in supporting the development of our campus Advancing Cultural Competency Certificate and advancing the “Becoming an Anti-Racist College” project with Dr. Crystal Simmons in the School of Education.
The APAS role provides Dave the opportunity to continue his cross-divisional experiences as the point of contact between Academic Affairs and Student and Campus Life.
Dave received his PhD in neuroscience from the University of Michigan and his BS in behavioral neuroscience from the University of Pittsburgh.
