How to Transfer to Geneseo
First-time transfer applicants may apply to Geneseo using the SUNY Application or the Common App. There is a $50 application fee.

In addition to submitting an application, you must:
- Send Geneseo your official transcript from any college or institution you previously attended. If appropriate, you may need to submit a course listing from your current college. To request an official college transcript, contact your college's registrar and order one to be mailed to SUNY Geneseo. If electronic delivery is offered, please have it emailed to admissions@geneseo.edu.
- A high school transcript is only required in the review process for students who have less than 24 college credits, however, a final high school transcript or equivalency diploma will be required upon enrolling to verify residency status and financial aid disbursement.
Note: If you have completed an application to SUNY Geneseo as a freshman or transfer within the last 2 years but have never enrolled at Geneseo, then you can apply for free using the Deferred Re-application Form.
Deadlines
There is a rolling deadline for transfer student admission for the fall and spring semesters. This means that we review applications as they arrive, and there is no cutoff date for applying.
Please note, we will require final grades for all college coursework in progress prior to your intended semester of enrollment at Geneseo. For this reason, we may need to wait for your final grades to be posted and updated official transcript to be received before we can release a final admissions decision. Although applications will continue to be received until the start of classes, we recommend having all application materials submitted at least one month prior to the first day of classes for the semester you intend to enroll in order to have a seamless and timely enrollment process.
Letters of Recommendation
Letters of recommendation are welcome but optional. If you choose to have one or more letters sent to support your application, they should be sent directly by the person writing them.

EOP Transfer Students
The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) is a New York state-funded college access opportunity program which requires students meet specific academic and financial guidelines to qualify for admission. In order to transfer into an EOP program, you must have previously been admitted to and maintained continuous enrollment in an EOP or similar program (EOP, HEOP, SEEK, College Discovery) in the state of New York. Transfer applicants who would like to maintain their EOP enrollment status at SUNY Geneseo must submit the EOP Enrollment Verification Form. This form must be completed by the EOP director from their previous institution.
