Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics
The fundamental aim of the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Applied Mathematics Degree is to provide students with a broad foundation in mathematics and the mathematical reasoning needed to pursue an interest in a specific field of intellectually activity outside of mathematics. The BS in Applied Mathematics gives students the tools to combine mathematics with another quantitatively rich subject area that is directly concerned with applications, such as the sciences, economics, or engineering. The BS in Applied Mathematics is recommended for those students who intend to pursue a career in a field that requires advanced mathematical training, often beyond an undergraduate degree. Such students are likely to continue their mathematical studies in a Phd or Master's program. The degree requires from 51 to 52 credit hours of course work.
Note: The degree was updated in Fall 2021. Students who matriculated at SUNY Geneseo prior to Fall 2021, have the option of using the degree requirements listed below or the previous version of these degree requirements, which can be found here: BS in Applied Mathematics (prior to Fall 2021).
