Philosophy Minor Requirements (Pre-Fall 2021)
The philosophy minor at Geneseo provides a customized experience to complement any major by enriching critical thinking skills and teaching the art of questioning.
Required Courses
For students who matriculated at Geneseo prior to Fall 2021, the minor in Philosophy requires a total of 18 credit hours.
- PHIL 111 Introduction to Logic (3 credit hours)
- Electives in philosophy (15 credit hours, including a maximum of six hours at the 100-level and at least three hours at the 300-level)
Why Minor in Philosophy?
In a recent survey of Geneseo Philosophy alumni, 87% of respondents said their coursework in philosophy gave them a complex and valuable understanding of themselves and of the world. In addition, 89% of respondents reported that their philosophy background helped them in their post-graduate experiences.
